We are excited to announce that Frontiers Health will be back live again on November 27, 2020 at 2:30 pm CET with a special deep dive event held in Italian, in partnership with Biorespira.

The virtual event, titled “Rispondere all’emergenza Covid-19: le nuove frontiere della NIV” [Tackling the Covid-19 emergency: the new frontiers of the NIV], will be dedicated to analyse the adoption of non-invasive ventilation tools from a clinical perspective.

A group of experts will be discussing how non-invasive ventilation (NIV) can assist Covid patients before and after intensive care. The pandemic has brought to light numerous problems related to ventilation, like the adoption of early invasive measures such as intubation, due to the risk of a sudden worsening of the general condition of hospitalized patients, and the increased risk of virus spread via droplets and aerosols.

Although the approach used during the pandemic is currently valid, NIV is recommended in cases of Covid-19 pneumonia of medium to mild severity and can prevent the need for intubation or invasive ventilation. Furthermore, patients requiring NIV can be even cured in other places, thus preventing the collapse of intensive care units.
