Tuomas is the Founder and CTO of Sooma Medical, a Finnish health technology company pioneering accessible, home-based neuromodulation therapies for depression and neurological disorders. A physicist and medical-device entrepreneur by background, he has spent his career developing brain stimulation technologies, first at Nexstim and then at Sooma from an idea into an international treatment platform. Today, Sooma’s therapies have been used by more than 35,000 patients in over 35 countries, with more than 300 hospitals and clinics adopting its technology and over half a million treatment sessions delivered worldwide. Under Tuomas’ leadership, Sooma has expanded brain stimulation from specialist settings into primary care and patients’ homes, while building the clinical and regulatory foundations for broader adoption. The company is currently conducting a pivotal FDA clinical trial for at-home treatment of major depressive disorder in the United States and expanding its real-world deployment across major European healthcare networks. Tuomas’ ambition is to make effective brain-based therapies as accessible as pharmaceuticals and to establish neuromodulation as a mainstream treatment platform across psychiatric and neurological disorders.
