Raj Malhotra

Founder and Chairman, Smartweave
Raj Malhotra is a 4x-founder with extensive experience building deep science startups into category leaders. His entrepreneurial journey began with a healthcare document management company that grew from a back-of-the-envelope sketch to employ nearly 2,000 people serving over 200 hospitals and was eventually acquired by Microsoft. The inspiration for Smartweave is deeply personal. One of Raj’s family members suffered an adverse outcome from a medical implant, which highlighted the need for better solutions in tissue repair. This experience fueled his determination to create a more effective and precise method for tissue regeneration, starting with treating chronic women’s pelvic health disorders. With Smartweave, Raj has assembled a top-tier team of scientists, surgeons, and engineers from prestigious institutions such as Stanford, Cedars-Sinai, MIT, and Harvard. Smartweave is at the forefront of bio-convergence, where AI, genomics, and biotech intersect to create groundbreaking innovations. This convergence is not only pivotal to Smartweave’s current products but also positions the company to lead future developments in regenerative medicine.
