Jim Flatt, Ph.D. has led transformative scientific and technological breakthroughs into consumer health and food innovations. Jim currently serves as the CEO of DMC Biotechnologies. DMC Bio develops, manufactures and sells clinically proven effective bioactive ingredients, including myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol, under the KeyPuraTM brand. DMC produces cleaner, more sustainable ingredients using an economically advantaged, IP protected, precision fermentation technology platform, Dynamic Metabolic ControlTM. Prior to joining DMC, Jim co-founded and served as the CEO of Brightseed®, the bioactives company that illuminates nature to restore human health through the internationally awarded Forager AI platform. In previous roles, Jim led R&D at Martek Biosciences as the pioneer of sustainably produced DHA omega-3 fatty acid for infant brain, eye, and cardiovascular health. Later, Jim served as the CTO at the pioneering synthetic biology company Synthetic Genomics, leading the development of biological solutions for crop protection and advantaged methods for developing DNA-based vaccines. Jim is a chemical and biochemical engineer with a PhD from the University of Wisconsin and degrees from M.I.T. and UC Berkeley.
