Gio also serves as Venture Partner at Cornucopian Capital, a venture capital firm investing in precision health and represents the firm as Board Director at Biocanic, Inc. Gio is an entrepreneurial innovation executive with successful transformational track record in several industries. As Senior Vice President of Ferrero’s Open Innovation, he created from scratch a global organization to drive the discovery, evaluation and integration plans of external science, technology and entrepreneurial innovations relevant to Ferrero, a global leader in Sweet Packaged Food. Prior to joining Ferrero Gio was Global Vice President of Flavor Innovation Discovery at Firmenich – an international leader in Flavor and Fragrances – where he led the strategic discovery of scientific innovations in the areas of taste modulation, health & nutrition, natural & sustainable, and breakthrough cost innovation. For the same company, Gio managed global strategic discovery and commercialization for taste modulation and Health & Nutrition innovations. Previously, Gio was the co-founder and CEO of Zonebee, a New York City-based spin-off from the University of Arizona. At Zonebee, Giovanni led a multi-disciplinary R&D team to create visionary software and hardware products to support informal learning and knowledge management online in physical environments such as museums, retail stores or trade shows.
